Plantronics Hub software "SpokesUpdateService" major memory leak "I’ve noticed that process SpokesUpdateService promoted to the top of my Memory usage list with 2.8 GB RAM used!" I found that others had seen very large memory leaks from SpokesUpdateService: The process was easy to cancel using Activity Monitor's "Force a process to quit" (stop sign shape with X in it in the Activity Monitor task bar). The app had not cancelled SpokesUpdateService when I quit the app. Web search said this was part of the Plantronics Hub app. [ After quitting Plantronics hub several days ago, then checking memory use by Safari today with Activity Monitor, I noticed a root process called "SpokesUpdateService" which was using a lot of memory. The application can also manage settings on a Plantronics headset. Plantronics offers a way to update the firmware on the headset, using an application called Plantronics Hub. My Plantronics Voyager Legend Bluetooth headset was sometimes giving me an odd set of four tones, which Plantronics support cannot explain. Use Activity Monitor to quit SpokesUpdateService if its running and don't have the Plantronics Hub application open. If you use Plantronics Hub software, use Activity Monitor to check that the root process "SpokesUpdateService" doesn't keep running and using up huge amounts of memory.
